Komatsu, one of the world’s largest manufacturers of construction, mining and industrial equipment recently established its regional headquarters in Jebel Ali Freezone in Dubai to service the MENA region. The project is one of the most aesthetically pleasing facilities in the logistics hub of JAFZA due to its unique blue-coloured façade, matching Komatsu’s corporate identity guidelines.
Fast Track Construction with Optimal Solution
The project had a tight delivery program of only 12 weeks. Completing the project in such a short duration was only made possible by forming the building envelope using the single-component easy-to-install Kingspan Insulated Panel systems. Kingspan’s Quadcore KSD1000 AWP panels were selected to be used on the external walls and KSD1000 RW trapezoidal panels formed the roof of the structure. Both panels meet and exceed the thermal insulation requirements of Dubai Municipality, providing a sustainable and thermally efficient space for Komatsu to operate.
Insurer Approved and Civil Defense Compliant Panels
In addition to the thermal performance, compliance with Dubai Civil Defense’s strict Fire and Life Safety Code was another important factor for the client to utilize Kingspan Insulated Panels for the project. Kingspan Insulated Panels is the first manufacturer to achieve Dubai Civil Defence (DCD) approval in the UAE for its complete range of wall and roof panels, which makes it the manufacturer of choice for insulated panels with regards to regulatory compliance.
Kingspan has liaised both with the main contractor, McLaren Construction LLC and Blue Moon Construction in developing workshop drawings and fabrication designs. Thermal insulation conformity, gutter drain capacity and structural calculation checks has been completed before construction. Kingspan’s field supervision team have regularly inspected the project from the first dates of installation until handover, providing committed technical support to all parties involved, thus ensuring the highest level of installation quality is achieved.
