Alti Futura is a popular shopping centre in Kristiansund, Norway, which was extended in 2019 with a new building featuring an attractive and visually modern façade.
Alti Futura is a popular shopping centre in Kristiansund, Norway, which was extended with a new 14,800 m² building in 2019. Alti Futura has around 57 shops, 6 restaurants and 450 free parking spaces, both outdoor and covered.
The building was completed one day ahead of the deadline, using aluminium cassettes and Paroc Panel System sandwich elements for the façade.

The cassettes are a competitive choice due to the ease and efficiency of installation. The system was also found to meet durability requirements and to be able to withstand the harsh climate of Nord-Møre, an important factor given the area’s strong wind gusts. In addition, the use of the system eliminated the need for additional substructures beneath the façade panels, simplifying the construction process.
Ultimately, AMB Arkitekter and Consto decided to use Flat and Dri-Design Tapered cassettes for the façade of Alti Futura. This marked the first time the system was used on buildings in Norway and Scandinavia.
AMB Arkitekter created a visually appealing façade that added character to the building and avoided a lifeless, industrial appearance. They wanted to give the building an architectural and aesthetic look.
Statement by architect Michael Bowe from AMB Arkitekter AS:
“We wanted to avoid making the façade of this beautiful building look dead and industrial. We wanted to give the building an architectural and aesthetic appearance: for the façade to have character, playfulness and life, created by light and shadows. (...) The system fully meets our expectations. We also receive a lot of positive feedback on the appearance of the building from both local residents and representatives of Kristiansund Municipality. People think it has turned out beautifully.”
The project architects were satisfied with the final result, and the building façade now has a unique and visually striking appearance thanks to the flexibility and customisation offered by the Dri-Design system.
