In the event of a real fire, smoke generation is one of the greatest threats to human life. For this reason, minimising smoke emissions is an important consideration in protecting people in and around a building. Selected QuadCore® insulated sandwich panels achieve a smoke development classification of s1, representing the lowest smoke emission category. Selected products also achieve a fire classification of B-s1,d0 in accordance with MSZ EN 13501-1:2019*.
These characteristics help QuadCore® insulated panels meet demanding industry and insurance requirements. QuadCore® is the world's first closed-cell insulation core to achieve FM Global FM 4882 Class 1 approval for wall and roof insulated panels. This classification supports its use in applications where smoke performance is an important consideration.
In addition, QuadCore® meets the requirements of EI15 and EI30 according to the Hungarian standard MSZ 14800-6 for façades with openings. As a result, no additional protection using non-combustible materials is required around façade openings. Since the introduction of closed-cell insulation cores, significant progress has been made in fire protection performance, particularly in wall applications, where QuadCore® insulated panels achieved an EI60 fire resistance classification in tests conducted in accordance with EN 1364-1:2015.
Development continues, and the fire performance of closed-cell insulation cores will continue to improve in the future. QuadCore® technology offers a number of advantages compared with more open-cell insulation materials. The development of new insulation technologies is already underway, and further solutions are expected to become available in the coming years to support sustainable and efficient construction.
