Sustainability

Performance with Purpose

Sustainability in construction is shaped by measurable priorities: reducing emissions, improving material efficiency and designing buildings that use energy more effectively. At Kingspan, we approach these priorities through practical solutions that support lower-impact construction and long-term building performance.
NewsLEC

Construction materials, building operation and energy use all contribute to the environmental impact of the built environment. Materials and construction account for around 11% of global energy-related CO₂ emissions, while buildings represent approximately 40% of energy consumption in the EU and around 36% of energy-related greenhouse gas emissions.

This impacts decisions made early in the project, from envelope design and material selection to energy strategy and technical documentation. Reliable data on embodied carbon, GWP and product performance helps project teams assess solutions more clearly and align them with regulatory, environmental and commercial requirements.

How Kingspan addresses sustainability

Kingspan addresses sustainability through three connected areas: environmental targets, carbon-conscious specification and renewable energy integration. Together, they help link Group-level commitments with practical decisions made during the design, construction and operation of buildings.

Planet Passionate provides the wider framework for action across carbon, energy, circularity and water. We Care About Carbon focuses on embodied carbon, GWP data and product transparency, while our PV solutions support the integration of renewable energy technologies into roof and façade systems.

Planet Passionate

A Long-Term Commitment to Sustainability

Planet Passionate is Kingspan’s global environmental sustainability programme, focused on four areas: carbon, energy, circularity and water. The programme is designed to address three major challenges for the built environment: climate change, circularity and protection of the natural world with the help of Kingspan local teams.

Through Planet Passionate, Kingspan sets measurable targets for its own operations and value chain, while supporting the development of products and systems with improved environmental performance. The programme includes actions related to greenhouse gas emissions, renewable energy, recycled and renewable materials, waste reduction and responsible water management.

Solar Solutions

Integrating renewable energy into the building envelope

We help project teams create lower-impact buildings by integrating renewable energy generation with high-performance roof and wall panel systems, supporting both energy efficiency and long-term building performance.

Solutions include:

PoweRail RW, a mounting solution for photovoltaic modules on pitched roof systems.

PowerWall Karrier, a façade solution that supports photovoltaic modules on Kingspan wall systems.

Both solutions are designed to support PV integration while maintaining the technical requirements of the building envelope.

We Care About Carbon

Supporting Lower-Carbon Building Design

Clear data on embodied carbon, GWP and product performance helps project teams make more informed decisions and better understand the carbon impact of building materials and systems. This transparency makes it easier to include carbon considerations alongside performance, compliance and project requirements.

Kingspan Cares About Carbon

Reducing carbon impact starts in our own operations. We are improving energy efficiency, investing in on-site renewable energy such as PV systems, transitioning our company vehicle fleet to electric and low-emission alternatives, and developing lower embodied carbon solutions to support our Planet Passionate goals.
